Tipperary householders urged to avail of free e-waste and battery recycling events

Tipperary householders are being urged to bring their batteries, electrical, and electronic waste to a set of free collection days to help the county meet national e-waste recycling targets for 2023.

The events, hosted by WEEE Ireland in partnership with Tipperary County Council, kick off on Saturday July 22 at the Mid Tipperary Co-Op Mart, Ballycarrane, Thurles, from 10am-4pm.

On Saturday July 29, the collection will take place at the Templemore Co-Op Mart, Bank Street, Templemore, from 10am-4pm, and on Saturday August 12 there will be a collection at Cahir Co-Op Mart, Cashel Road, Cahir, from 10am-4pm.

All household items with a plug or a battery will be accepted free of charge, including old washing machines, TVs, toasters and kettles, electronic tools and toys, cables, IT equipment, mobile phones, remote controls, batteries, including farm fence batteries, and even watches.

Tipperary County Council -Public Participation: Identification of Bathing Waters

Tipperary County Council is inviting public participation in the identification of new bathing waters in Co. Tipperary under the Bathing Water Directive and Bathing Water Quality Regulations S.I 79 of 2008

Local authorities are required under the 2008 Regulations to identify official bathing areas in their area every year so that they can be monitored for safety, water quality and their level of use.

Appeal to Dog Owners – Please keep your dogs under control

Tipperary County Council is appealing to all dog owners to be extra vigilant at this time of year and to keep their dogs under control at all times. In recent months we have seen harrowing cases of sheep kills within the county. Such attacks have a devastating affect on families and surviving animals. In addition to financial loss, it’s very distressing for all involved to see the carnage that dogs can cause, when left free to roam unsupervised.
