Registrations are now open for National Spring Clean 2026, and communities across County Tipperary are invited to take part in Ireland’s largest and longest-running anti-litter campaign. This is your chance to make a real and positive impact on our local environment.
National Spring Clean is organised by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce, in partnership with Local Authorities and supported by the Department of Environment, Climate and Communication (DECC) and Mars Wrigley Ireland.
The campaign traditionally runs throughout the month of April, and this year the aim is to make it the biggest and most successful Spring Clean yet.
Beyond the clean-up itself, National Spring Clean encourages volunteers to think globally while acting locally. In recent years, the campaign has placed a strong emphasis on raising awareness of the link between litter and climate change. How we consume, dispose of, and treat our waste directly influences emissions of greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change. By taking part, communities can help drive meaningful change.
How to Get Involved
Taking part is simple. Organise a clean-up in your local area for any time in April, and register your event online by visiting https://nationalspringclean.org
Once registered, you will receive a FREE clean‑up kit, which includes:
- Tips for running a successful event
- A poster to help advertise your clean-up
- Ideas to make your event unique
- Plastic bags for litter and recyclables
- High Viz vests
- Gloves for volunteers
Supplementary Equipment
Additional litter pickers, bags, and gloves can be provided by the Environment and Climate Action staff at the Civic Offices in Nenagh and Clonmel.
Please phone 0818‑06‑5000 between 9.30am and 4.30pm to arrange collection.
Only groups registered with An Taisce are eligible to receive supplementary equipment.
After Your Spring Clean Event
Once your group has completed its clean-up, the Group Representative may contact the Environment and Climate Action Section in Nenagh or Clonmel at 0818‑06‑5000 to arrange a collection and provide the following information:
- Number of bags to be collected
- Location of the bags (Eircode preferred)
- Name and mobile number of the group contact person
An Enforcement Officer from the Environment and Climate Action team will then follow up with the Group Representative to arrange collection of Tipperary County Council branded yellow bags and or An Taisce Spring Clean branded bags from the agreed location.
It is essential that these procedures are followed by all groups to ensure volunteers understand the correct protocols for the safe collection and disposal of all litter gathered during the event.
