The Council wishes to advise motorists to exercise extreme caution when traveling on the roads due to danger posed by difficult traveling conditions/disruption, structural damage, falling trees, and localized flooding. The public is asked to postpone any journeys until the storm abates. Roads Crews will operate a significantly reduced service overnight due to the Orange Wind alert with crews mobilizing once the Orange Warning has passed to deal with any debris and fallen trees.
The public is advised to not travel in areas where a red level warning is in place and to shelter in place during these times. Essential services operators will continue to operate services subject to advice from Met Éireann on prevailing local conditions. Stay away from coastal areas during this period and follow advice from the Irish Coast Guard. Drive cautiously as strong winds can create hazardous conditions, especially for vulnerable road users.
Prepare for the storm by ensuring your mobile phone is charged, avoiding flooded roads, and monitoring Met Éireann forecasts for updates. Report fallen live wires to ESB Networks immediately at 1800 372 999. For road closure updates and additional information, visit the Council’s website and follow their social media channels.
