Non Principal Private Residence Charge Payment

Owners of private residential properties, which were not the owner's main residence during the years 2009 to 2013, must pay a charge on the property to the Non Principal Private Residence Bureau through the local authority.

Non Principal Private Residence Charge

The Local Government (Charges) Act 2009, as amended by the Local Government (Household Charge) Act 2011, introduced a €200 annual charge on non-principal private residences, payable by the owners to the local authority in whose area the property concerned is located. This charge was regardless of whether the owner was renting elsewhere or was living outside of Ireland.

Please note that the liability for the date 31/03/2013 will expire on 31st March 2025.

NPPR will be repealed in its entirety on the 31st of March 2025.
