Local authorities, together with other stakeholders, may run music, art and theatre programmes in schools to encourage students to take part in the arts and give them an opportunity to perform.

Artist in Primary School Scheme 2025

Description: 

The scheme provides funding to a professional artist of any discipline to work in a school for 50 hours on a project designed collaboratively between the school and the artist. The quality and diversity of the work that has been created by Tipperary students working with artists has been outstanding. The scheme provides opportunities for children to access and to engage with an artist and the language of creativity at an early age; and for schools and teachers to work collaboratively across curriculum areas.

The scheme is now open; the deadline for application is 12 noon on Friday 7th February 2025.

Aideen Barry's "How to Make" workshop series

Free Online Mask Making Workshops for children with leading Irish Artist from Tipperary Aideen Barry.

In 2020, we're having to think about masks in a whole new way and that's what leading Irish visual artist Aideen Barry has done.

Even though she's was busy working in Kaunus, Lithuania on a project with European colleagues, she took time out to create three different masks and to show us "How to Make" them for ourselves.

Introduction to Stop Motion animation with Mike Byrne

During 2020, Tipperary Arts Office commissioned Tipperary artist Mike Byrne to produce a six part Stop Motion animation series.

You will find Episode 1 - 6 below. This series is a fantastic introduction to Stop Motion animation for children (and adults).

Mike Byrne is a former student of Limerick School of Art & Design where he studied Animation and he has been working on Animation and Model Making projects for the past 10 years.

PRINTS FOR SCHOOLS: An opportunity for Second Level Schools to utilise unique artworks in curriculum delivery.

An exhibition of thirty two contemporary prints by Irish artists is available on loan from the Tipperary Arts Office for cultural and educational purposes.

The prints are specially packed for easy handling and transport and include works by well known Irish Printmakers including Alice Hanratty, Des Mac Mahon and David Lilburn. In addition, printmaking workshops will be offered to participating schools while the exhibition is in the school.
