Artist in Primary School Scheme 2025

Status: OPEN

Description:

The scheme provides funding to a professional artist of any discipline to work in a school for 50 hours on a project designed collaboratively between the school and the artist. The quality and diversity of the work that has been created by Tipperary students working with artists has been outstanding. The scheme provides opportunities for children to access and to engage with an artist and the language of creativity at an early age; and for schools and teachers to work collaboratively across curriculum areas.

You will find the guidelines for this scheme below for information purposes.

The scheme is now open; the deadline for application is 12 noon on Friday 7th February 2025.

Prints for Schools

An exhibition of thirty two contemporary prints by Irish artists is available on loan from the Tipperary Arts Office for cultural and educational purposes. The prints are specially packed for easy handling and transport and include works by well known Irish Printmakers including Alice Hanratty, Des Mac Mahon and David Lilburn.

Secondary schools may use the exhibition to enhance the art curriculum in a variety of ways to suit their requirements e.g. a school may choose to hang a selection of works in a public area of the school or in the art room or may show the full exhibition at once. It is up to each individual school to use these original works as they see fit to meet their needs and resources. We are open to how the exhibition is utilised by individual schools. In addition, printmaking workshops will be offered to participating schools while the exhibition is in the school.
